Morpeth - The Gateway Of Northumberland

Morpeth is a beautiful market town at the heart of North Northumberland, there is a small community park, swimming pool with Leisure Center and a small but significant retail shopping center which has a number of craft and gift shops.

To the West of the town lies Wooler and the Cheviots and Edinburgh, to the South, Newcastle and the Metro Centre. Within easy reach of the town lie some of the most beautiful and untarnished coastlines, castles and hills this country has to offer from Cresswell through to Holy Island.

Morpeth also has a colourful and rich history which involves music, admiralty and the Sufferagette movement. Lord Collingwood and Emily Davidson respectively, we also have the famous Turner herb gardens named after William Turner the famous botanist

For our part we are intending to add a pictoral tribute of the town, its wildlife and the surrounding area as well as a brief history.

We will start with a small tribute to the Northumberland Gathering which comes to this town every year, a thoroughly enjoyable time with music history and culture from a bygone era. A special thank you to all those who take part and especially to the The Sealed Knot who entertain the families with a vivid reproduction of historical warfare and life.

Pictured above and below the The Sealed Knot units with pikemen, flintlocks and cannons, humorous and entertaining for adults and children alike.

A few woodcuts I took back in the time of the civil war What a con! I hear you say, "by gads". Send these bloody Parliamentarians to the Tower Of London where they belong!!!!

A toast to King, Country...and a Royal Victory
